Since when is structured e-invoicing mandatory in Belgium?

Since 1 January 2026, structured electronic invoices are mandatory for B2B transactions between Belgian VAT-liable businesses. Consumer invoices (B2C) are not in scope. A PDF or paper copy may still be sent, but only the structured invoice is the legal invoice. In Belgium, structured invoices are exchanged in principle via the Peppol network.

Is InvoSys PEPPOL compliant?

InvoSys sends and receives invoices on the Peppol network and converts them to the structured format. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the invoice content.

Do I need technical knowledge to use PEPPOL with InvoSys?

What fines apply if a business cannot issue or receive structured e-invoices?

FPS Finance can fine a taxable person who does not have the technical means to issue and receive a structured electronic invoice: €1,500 for a first offence, €3,000 for a second, and €5,000 for later offences. A later offence counts only if the administration establishes it at least three months after the previous offence that led to a fine. Since 1 January 2026, structured electronic invoices are mandatory for B2B transactions between Belgian VAT-liable businesses. Invoices to consumers (B2C) are not in scope.
